Regulators require tested random number generators and published game rules, and they can audit how odds and payouts work.
Where is bet365 legal? The bookmaker only operates where it holds a licence or is otherwise permitted to accept customers. Its main regulators are the UK Gambling Commission and the Malta Gaming Authority, and it also holds local licences in several US states, Ontario, Brazil and France. This page lists the countries and states we can confirm, explains why it is not available in India, shows how to check a licence yourself on a regulator’s public register, and explains what a licence actually protects.
The table lists the main licences and regulators behind the brand. Each licence covers only its own territory, so the product and offers differ between them.
| Market | Regulator | Status |
|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom | UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) | Licensed |
| International markets | Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) | Licensed |
| United States | State regulators (e.g. New Jersey, Colorado) | Licensed in several states |
| Ontario, Canada | Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) | Licensed |
| Brazil | Federal betting regulator | Approved in 2025 |
| France | Autorité nationale des jeux (ANJ) | Launched in May 2026 |
| India | None | Not available since 2023 |
| China | None | Exited in 2025 |
The operator is legal wherever it holds a local licence or where local law allows it to serve customers under its international licence. The licensed businesses are run by Hillside group companies, such as Hillside (UK Sports) ENC and Hillside (UK Gaming) ENC, and these are the names that appear on regulator registers.
There is no single public list of bet365 legal countries, because the bookmaker adds and leaves markets over time. In the United States, the legal states are those where a state regulator has licensed it, such as New Jersey and Colorado; the list grows as new states regulate sports betting, and every state app is separate. The reliable way to check any country or state is the regulator’s own public register (see below) and the bookmaker’s own terms, which list restricted territories.
The bookmaker restricts customers from many countries, either because local law does not allow it or because it has chosen to leave. The restricted list changes over time and is set out in its terms. Two changes matter most for readers of this site:
Using a VPN or someone else’s details to get around a restriction breaks the bookmaker’s terms and can lead to account closure and withheld funds.
The bookmaker does not hold an Indian licence and does not accept customers from India, so you cannot legally open or use an account from India. There is no bet365 India app, no INR account and no bonus code for India. India also passed the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, which targets online money games and their promotion; its commencement and court challenges are still pending, so the legal picture may change.
Sites and apps that offer “bet365 India” with rupee deposits through UPI are not operated by the bookmaker. If you want to bet online from India, compare the options in our guide to bet365 alternatives in India and check each operator’s licence yourself.
Every serious regulator publishes a public register of the companies it licenses. You can check a licence in a few minutes without signing up anywhere:
Clone sites that copy the bet365 logo cannot pass this check, because their domains do not appear on any regulator’s register.
Regulators require tested random number generators and published game rules, and they can audit how odds and payouts work.
Licensed operators must follow rules on handling customer funds and on paying out winnings according to their terms.
KYC checks confirm that customers are adults and are who they say they are, which also helps prevent fraud.
Deposit limits, time-outs, reality checks and self-exclusion are mandatory in most regulated markets. See our responsible gaming page.
If an operator does not resolve a complaint, many regulators require access to an independent dispute resolution service.

No. Bet365 has no Indian licence and has not accepted customers from India since 2023, so it is not an option for Indian residents.
No. It is regulated by the UK Gambling Commission, the Malta Gaming Authority and national or state regulators.
It holds licences in several US states, such as New Jersey and Colorado. The list changes as more states regulate betting, so check the state regulator’s register.
Look up the operator name and domain on the regulator’s public register. If the domain is not listed, or the site offers rupee deposits to Indian users, it is not genuine bet365.
No. It breaks the bookmaker’s terms, and the account can be closed and funds withheld.
